The Holiday ScramblerMy partner and I spent the summer of 2020 renovating a 1969 Holiday Rambler travel trailer into an automated chicken coop.
Purchased for $300, we got it towed to a nearby storage yard to start work on bringing it back to life. The first stage was cleaning the years of mildew buildup and grime off of the exterior and then a major demolition on the inside. Layers of vinyl and dusty shaggy carpet were removed as well as old spongey plywood, foam, a kitchen and overhead cabinets. It now resides on 10 acres of organic pasture in the old donkey field at Beaver Meadow Farms. The Holiday Scrambler currently holds 100 chickens and we tow it to new pasture every two weeks. |
